Advances in treatment and management of colic caused by diseases localized to the large intestine include the availability of a novel antispasmodic medication, n-butylscopolammonium bromide; enteral fluid therapies; promising outcomes of surgical procedures; use of di-tri-octahedral smectite; dietary modifications; diagnostic use of ultrasonography; and new information about the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
